I saw Nisse Berglund was playing and had to give him a listen and I was hooked. The single “Loco” feels like a guaranteed timeless hit. Read the interesting interview we got with Nisse!

Q: How long have you been making music, actually? Where are you from?

A: I’ve been playing blues since I was in school, with rastguitaren.

Q: Have you ever been in prison? If not, what would you have gone to prison for?

A: I’ve been held in custody several times at Kronoberg, which is what “Gemet” is about. Among other things, I was arrested for violence against a public official. But in 2021, I was sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for aggravated car theft, and I served four and a half years in total, including at Helix. I was released in 2025 and now live in supported housing with an open arrangement.

Q: Who else do you bring along when you play live?

A: I play with Oliver Lara on guitar, on bass, Viktor Lund on drums, and Sigge Andersson on guitar. Theodor Ekblom has been a great help with the recording and mixing, but I’ve recorded almost everything myself.

Q: If I said you sound like a mix between The Fall and Roffe Wikström, would you knock me out? Who would you say your influences are?

A: I haven’t heard The Fall before, but I thought they sounded good. My influences include bands and artists such as KSMB, Eddie Meduza, and Viagra Boys.

Q: What’s your favorite distortion pedal?

A: Fuzz Mammoth.

Q: “Loco” is obviously a guaranteed mega-hit. Which radio station should be forced — under threat of violence — to put it on their A-list?

A: No violence, but I’m happy if people listen!

Q: What’s the last district in Stockholm you would identify with, and why?

A: Östermalm. I have no sympathy for the bourgeoisie. I’m a proletarian anarchist and I stand on the side of the people.

Q: Are you planning a Scandinavian tour, or are you going to stay within ”tullarna”?

A: If anyone wants to book us for a tour, we’ll gladly say yes. But right now we’re focusing on Södermalm and the southern suburbs.
