The constantly metamorphosing Gong at Klubben at Nalen
On 12 November 2026 Gong will take over Klubben at Nalen with the new album Bright Spirit behind them. It will be an exclusive and intimate show with a limited audience, as one of psychedelic rock’s most distinctive cult bands returns to Sweden.
Since its start in a French commune in 1967, Gong has moved through ever‑new, unknown and unsuspected landscapes. From the early years with the Australian beatnik poet Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth, through the Virgin Records period, break‑ups, reunions, deaths and rebirths, the band has carried on a continuous thread of beautiful, dangerous and extraordinary music.
The musically versatile world around Gong contains shades of psychedelia, space rock, jazz, avant‑garde, krautrock and surreal soundscapes. Albums such as Magick Brother, Mystic Sister, Bananamoon and Camembert Electrique laid the foundation for the band’s mythology, while the classic Radio Gnome trilogy—Flying Teapot, Angel’s Egg and You—cemented their place as one of psychedelic rock’s most idiosyncratic collectives.
After Daevid Allen’s death in 2015, the current keepers of the flame have continued to carry Gong forward. Bassist Dave Sturt, Ian “Eastwinds” East, Fabio Golfetti, Kavus Torabi and Cheb Nettles have together let the band keep mutating, opening portals and moving toward new musical states.
The new studio album Bright Spirit was released in spring 2026 and is the third part of a trilogy that began with The Universe Also Collapses 2019 and continued with Unending Ascending 2023. Recorded with long‑time collaborator Frank Byng in his studio in south London, Bright Spirit shows Gong at their most experimental, adventurous and open to dreaming.
On 12 November 2026 Gong plays in Stockholm. The evening will be an exclusive show with a limited audience, as close to an intimate living‑room gig as you can get with a band that fills houses worldwide. Welcome to Undergången! Undergången IG Undergången FB
