Mefisto. After changing their name from Torment, Mefisto was one of the first Swedish extreme bands to follow in Bathory's footsteps. They had a major influence on early Swedish death metal, together with Obscurity and Merciless shortly thereafter. Mefisto originally consisted of three members: guitarist Omar Ahmed, drummer Robert "Thord" Granath and vocalist Sandro Cajander. Cajander, who later joined Morbid, had a deep, harsh vocal style – comparable to, but more extreme than, contemporary Bathory or Venom – which was further developed by LG Petrov from Nihilist (later Entombed).
Mefisto released two cassette demos: "Megalomania" in May 1986 and "The Puzzle" in November 1986. After only two demos the band dissolved in 1987 and received little support at the time. Since then Mefisto has achieved cult status and strongly influenced the emerging extreme music underground, especially the Stockholm death metal scene. These demos, reissued as a compilation CD titled "The Truth" on Regain Records in 1999, form a prototype for Swedish death metal. In December 2014 the band reformed, and their debut album was released on 20 February 2016.
On stage Mefisto shares the night with Bloodofjupiter, who deliver uncompromising doom‑laden death metal. With well‑known names such as David Isberg, Ronnie Bergerstål, Jonaz Bühlund and Brynja Ströman, the band has built a strong reputation on the European underground scene. With the highly anticipated new album "Dying Thunder" planned for release in 2027, momentum is growing quickly. In recent years Bloodofjupiter has topped shows in Norway, England, the Netherlands and Sweden – while also building a loyal and constantly growing audience.
Since Bishops is right next to Encore you don’t have to rush: arrive early, have a bite and a drink, then just walk a few steps to the concert. If you want to be sure of getting a spot we recommend booking a table in advance, especially for popular concerts and on weekends.
