Sold out! Friday, December 11 with The Nomors and Strindbergs is sold out. The door is shut, and we get just as happy every time. Thanks to everyone who wants to be here that evening!
Did you miss Friday? No worries. There will be an extra concert on Saturday, December 12 with the same two bands on the same stage. There are still tickets left, but don’t wait too long.
The Nomors and Strindbergs meet on the same stage at Encore again – the success from last year is being repeated this December. The combination of the two bands has proven to be a real killer.
The Nomors come from Solna, an unyielding suburb of Stockholm built on top of a landfill, and the concrete heritage has always shaped the band’s music. Since the debut single in 1981, garage rock has been more an attitude than a historical phenomenon for the band – the anger, the rush and the obsession that define the genre. The compilation “Nomadic Dementia” documents 25 years of releases, but the music has always been about what’s about to happen rather than what’s already happened: there are always new generations of sixteen‑year‑olds who feel they’re neither born to go to school nor to work.
Janne Borgh (Moderns) and Johan Johansson (KSMB) formed the trio Strindbergs in 1982 after their previous bands split up. With Strindbergs, punk, pop, sharp lyrics and a magical roar were united – at a time when other bands played synth in costume, Strindbergs played rock ’n’ roll and smashed guitars.
The band split up after three years, three albums, three singles and three hundred concerts. Twenty‑five years later Peace & Love festival asked them to reunite for a concert, and together with drummer Robert Eriksson (The Hellacopters) Strindbergs played both at the festival and two evenings on the roof of Kulturhuset in Stockholm in the summer of 2009. It was so fun, so good and so perfectly executed that it has become a concert a year ever since – maybe this will be the very last, maybe not.
Since Bishops is right next to Encore you don’t have to rush: arrive early, have a bite and a drink, then just walk a few steps to the concert. If you want to be sure of a spot we recommend booking a table in advance, especially for popular concerts and on weekends.
