The Plastic Pals
“Tajtare än Willy DeVilles krokodilboots”! Since its start in 2005, The Plastic Pals have built a catalog where sleek melodies meet a clearly ominous undertone. In just over twenty years the band has delivered its neo‑psychedelic garage rock, power pop and blue‑eyed soul, with twin guitars, catchy hooks and songs that know the night has teeth. Beautiful noise with a dark heart – for those who want their rock ’n’ roll with a little blood on their hands. The band’s sound draws nourishment from CBGB’s, paisley‑psychedelia, Americana, glam rock and blue‑eyed soul – but beneath the riffs and melodies lurk darker stories of desire, obsession, loss, fate and everything that can go to hell after midnight.
After a long string of releases – albums, singles and EPs – the band put out its 20‑year anniversary album Keep it Burning in January this year (with a release party at Gamla Enskede bryggeri, Bolidenvägen 8), featuring music rooted in CBGB’s and 60s psychedelia and songs that are as melodic as they are dark – filled with blackness, restlessness and dark humor.
The Plastic Pals are:
Anders Salle Sahlin: guitar and backing vocals
Olov Öqvist: drums
Bengt Alm: bass and backing vocals
Håkan Soold: vocals and guitar
